You may only purchase and complete the aptitude test ONE TIME.
If you purchase again, your account will NOT be reset and you will NOT be allowed to retake the test. Please make sure you are fully prepared before beginning.

The first step of the hiring process is document submission followed by an online aptitude test (applicants are required to upload essential documents during this process).

Requirements:
• Submit your completed secondary school transcript which includes a Grade 12 math OR GED OR an accredited transcript report.
• Submit an updated resume.
• Provide proof of SIN (SIN card, or ROE, or govt income tax form).
• Provide a valid Driver’s License.
• You must be willing to travel within the jurisdiction of UA Local 401 Eastern Central Ontario.
• You must successfully complete an online mechanical aptitude test.
 
The following documents will be accepted:
• Driver’s License.
• SIN card, or ROE, or govt income tax form.
• High School Transcript that shows Grade 12 Math and OSSD completion.
OR High School Equivalency (GED) Certificate with math credit.
OR an accredited transcript report.
OR a High School Diploma and a College level math transcript accompanied by a letter from the College stating that the curriculum of the course completed is equivalent to that of a Grade 12 Math credit.

 

Do you have High School Transcripts from outside of Ontario/Canada?
Unfortunately we cannot accept foreign transcripts directly because we cannot confirm or validate the courses or levels.
If you completed your education outside of Canada, then you will be required to have a letter of equivalency in order to apply. The letter must verify that you have a high school diploma and completed a Grade 12 math credit.

There are third party services available that can assist you with your transcript conversion:

1. ICAS (International Credential Assessment Service of Canada)
Secondary School Comprehensive Assessment. https://www.icascanada.ca/home.aspx

2. Peel District School Board Office – Letter of Equivalency
https://www.peelschools.org/letter-of-equivalency

• The Application Form must be completed by Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at 4:00 pm.
• The Mechanical Aptitude Test must be completed on Friday, July 10th, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 am and 10:00 pm. There are no additional or make-up dates.
 
Due to the nature of the construction business, the hiring process for apprentices can vary from one month to one year or more.
