This adoption of the Second Edition of IEC 61236 with Canadian deviations is an update to the Second Edition of CAN/ULC-61236. The modifications include the addition of a paragraph in clause 4.1. on Requirements (General) to address the design of saddles, stick clamps and their accessories to function in a temperature range of –40 ºC to + 55 ºC. As well, clause 4.5 on Marking has been updated to remove the symbol double triangle. Additional modifications are the deletion of Annex A (normative) on the double triangle and inclusion of an Annex D (informative) regarding in-service care and periodic checking.

This International Standard is applicable to saddles, stick clamps and their accessories, used for live working. The products designed and manufactured according to this standard contribute to the safety of the users provided they are used by skilled persons, in accordance with safe methods of work and the instructions for use.
