Description

ULC Standards has issued a Standards Bulletin for Interpretation of a Clause in Standard CAN/ULC-S741-08. It is available on the ULC Standards website .

This Standard sets forth minimum requirements for air barrier materials used in building applications to restrict airflow through insulations and assemblies.

The Standard covers air barrier material types generally and hence includes membranes, sprayed and/or foamed plastics and panels. The Standard describes air permeance testing and reporting requirements, as well as water vapour transmission testing and water vapour permeability reporting requirements for materials that are not otherwise tested for this characteristic within the scope of an existing standard.

This Standard provides detailed requirements for the air leakage characteristics of air barrier materials before and after conditioning, together with the conditioning methods.
