Scope 1.1 This Standard specifies requirements for the installation of electric storage tank and heat pump water heaters intended for use in residential premises. 1.2 This Standard applies to (a) electric storage tank water heaters with (i)volumes of 50-454 L (13-120 US gal); and (ii) electrical heaters with power inputs up to 12 kW; and (b) heat pump water heaters that have (i) a maximum current rating of 24 A; (ii) a single-phase maximum voltage of 250 V; and (iii) ancillary equipment necessary for the device to function. 1.3 This Standard is not intended to provide guidance in selecting the tank capacity for any given installation. 1.4 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
