Description
Preface This is the third edition of CAN / CSA-E60335-2-13, Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-13: Particular Requirements for Deep Fryers, Frying Pans and Similar Appliances. This is the adoption, with Canada-specific requirements, of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standard 60335-2-13 (sixth edition, 2009-12). This standard replaces the previous edition published in 2006 which was designated CAN / CSA-E60335-2-13 (adopted IEC 60335-2-13: 2002 + A1: 2004).  This standard is intended for use with CAN / CSA-C22.2 No. 60335-1-11, Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements (IEC 60335-1: 2001 + A1: 2004 + A2: 2006 adopted, with Canadian specific requirements). Scope The article in Part 1 is replaced by the following article.  This International Standard deals with the safety of deep fat fryers with a maximum recommended oil content not exceeding 5 liters, frying pans, woks and other electrical appliances in which the oil is used for cooking, intended for domestic use only. and the like, and whose rated voltage is not greater than 250 V.  Appliances normally intended for domestic and similar use and which may also be used by unsuspecting users in shops, craftsmen's shops and on farms are included in the scope of this standard. However, if an appliance is intended to be used by professionals for the preparation of food for commercial purposes, this appliance is not considered to be solely for domestic use and the like.  As far as possible, this standard deals with the ordinary hazards posed by appliances to all persons in and around the home. However, this standard does not generally take into account  (a) persons (including children) whose  (i) physical, sensory or mental abilities (ii) lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the device safely without supervision or instruction (b) the use of the device as a toy by children.  Note 101 Attention is drawn to the fact that:    for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;  in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national public health authorities, the national bodies responsible for worker protection and similar bodies.  Note 102 This standard does not apply to:    deep fat fryers for commercial use (IEC 60335-2-37) jumps for collective use (IEC 60335-2-39) appliances intended to be used in premises with special conditions, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapor or gas)
