Description
These requirements provide the minimum criteria for the construction and performance of storage vaults intended for outdoor installation for the storage and collection, and optionally, dispensing of small quantities of flammable and combustible liquids in and from containers and portable tanks built in conformance with the following:
- Drums as defined in the "Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations"
- CSA B376-M, "Portable Containers for Gasoline and other Petroleum Fuels"
- CSA B306-M, "Portable Fuel Tanks for Marine Use"
- ULC/ORD-C30, "Safety Containers"
These requirements apply to storage vaults not more than one storey in height and not greater than 100 m² in floor area.
Storage vaults covered by these requirements shall be designed to prevent:- Spills or leakage from storage containers and portable tanks from entering the environment
- Extinguishants discharged from a fixed fire suppression system (when installed) from entering the environment
- The accumulation of spilled or leaked flammable and combustible liquids from coming in contact with the containers stored in the storage vault
- The accumulation of flammable vapors under the storage vault.
