These requirements cover automatic sprinklers intended for installation on sprinkler systems for fire-protection service. Requirements for the installation and use of sprinklers are included in the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13.
Sprinklers are categorized by operating temperature rating, nominal “Km” factor, installation position, type of coating or plating, and other factors that have a bearing on their application.
Where these requirements reference "extended coverage sprinklers", the requirements apply to both extended coverage light hazard and extended coverage ordinary hazard sprinklers unless otherwise specified.
