More About This Product

Description

These requirements cover equipment and procedures for the detection of leakage from underground flammable liquid storage tanks by qualitative characteristic assessment of leakage, changes in the volume in a qualitative manner or the presence of product external to the tank. These requirements provide for the determination of the capability of equipment and procedures for the measurement of actual or potential leakage within defined statistical probabilities.

Non-volumetric leak detection equipment and procedures may be categorized, but not restricted to, one of the following types:

  • Internal Devices, Equipment and Procedures designed to operate within a tank to assess one or more physical characteristics associated with the presence of a leak.
  • External Devices, Equipment and Procedures designed to operate outside of a tank to detect, in the backfill, the presence of product or a tracer originating from within the tank.
  • Interstitial Devices and Equipment designed to operate between the walls of double walled tanks to detect the presence of product or water.

These requirements do not cover quantitative volumetric leak detection equipment or methods. Published 7/31/1992.
