Description
These requirements cover indicator posts, including wall and underground types, for use in operating valves of the inside-screw pattern and for indicating the position of the gates in such valves. Indicator posts are primarily intended for use with valves controlling water supplies to automatic sprinkler equipment, standpipes, etc., used in private fire service where connections enter buildings.
Requirements for the installation and use of the indicator posts covered by this Standard are included in the following Standards of the National Fire Protection Association:
- NFPA No. 11 Foam Extinguishing Systems
- NFPA No. 13 Installation of Sprinkler Systems
- NFPA No. 14 Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems
- NFPA No. 24 Outside Protection
