Orderline Locating a Ground Fault on the Conventional (Initiating) Circuit

Presented by Dave Duggan, this continuing education module provides a fundamental look at the conventional Initiating circuit, reviewing circuit supervision technique, zone display, and meter readings looking for panel voltage or End-of-Line resistance.  

Discussion of common causes of open circuit faults, time-saving preliminary investigation.  12-step investigation using circuit splitting in text and diagram in tracking down a fault.  

This is more suitable for the newly registered technician who may not have had the experience of using a meter, following a circuit layout, and splitting to locate a problem. 

There is also a short quiz at the end of this course to test your understanding of the materials presented.

An investigation of an open circuit fault in an older style of installation follows, using resistor substitution, circuit splitting and voltage/resistance readings to track down the fault.
