About the Author

Ahmed Sharaf is a Building Code Advisor with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. He has over 30 years of experience in the design and construction of wastewater facilities with emphasis on sewage collection, treatment and disposal systems. In 1998, Mr. Sharaf was appointed as the On-site Sewage Systems Specialist to provide advice and interpretation of Part 8 of the Building Code (Sewage Systems). In this capacity, he was involved in the evaluation of alternative designs and products as well as in the development and maintenance of the regulation. Prior to joining the Ministry of Housing, Mr. Sharaf has worked for the Ministry of the Environment as well as several engineering firms in Canada, U.S. and overseas.
